Baraigram Upazila can be easily distinguished from other upazilas by the continuity of ancient history and tradition. At one time the Baraigram upazila headquarters was full of forests. After the construction of Bonpara-Pabna Highway and Bonpara-Hatikumrul Highway, the importance of Baraigram Upazila increased with the improvement of communication system. 80% of the people of Baraigram upazila are farmers. Almost self-sufficient in food.In winter, a lot of date molasses is produced here. Which is also sent to different parts of the country to meet the local demand. A variety of vegetables are grown throughout the year in the highlands of the area. During the monsoon, large areas of paddy fields are inundated with rain water. It can be seen in the celebration of various native fish.From time immemorial, there have been groundbreaking changes in the communication system between Baraigram and the northern and southern regions, including the capital Dhaka. As a result, it has become easier to send agricultural products, fish, fruits and vegetables to other parts of the country. The upazila has a total cultivable land of 26209 hectares.The soil here is quite fertile. About 100% of the land is under irrigation facility. The farmers of the upazila are very skilled in producing crops throughout the year using modern machinery. As most areas of the upazila are high to medium high, the risk of crop loss due to normal floods is less. There is no shortage of farmers interested in using modern technology in crop production.Different types of vegetables such as spinach, red spinach, potato, bean, radish, carrot, squash, chichinga, eggplant, pumpkin, sweet pumpkin etc. Different types of fruits like mango, litchi, banana, cool etc. Also paddy, wheat, jute, mug, lentil, mustard, khesari, maize, garlic and sugarcane are produced. Socio-economically about 80% of the farmers of this upazila are prosperous. If agricultural inputs are made available, it is possible to increase the total production of the upazila.
